Challenges and opportunities for brands in China’s evolving digital and data landscape by Gordon Domlija

– New PIPL (Personal Information Protection Law) legislation structure and implementation
– Broader regulatory environment when it comes to data
– Implications for brands (challenges and opportunities)
Managing the Future

The PIPL will work together with the Cybersecurity Law (“CSL”) and the Data Security Law (“DSL”) to establish a broader regulatory architecture governing cybersecurity and data privacy protection in China. The new law will reshape the handling of personal data in China, including the adoption of measures to deal with developing technologies around facial recognition, AI, and data analytics. Once effective, this new law will have a significant impact on the data compliance practices of both domestic and multinational companies to the extent they process or use the personal information of individuals located within China
